My heart goes out for this nation...

The strike took place on Sun and today is the 4th day already...

Thinking that this strike or closure of this nation will last a 1-2 days but is already dragging to the 4th day...

Each day, i woke up and will jump to my computer and get online to read up on the latest news of the politics... but as each day passes, the news just get sadder each time...

Just today, the news reported

The taxi drivers are worried after the indefinite general strike called by the Unified CPN (Maoist) showed no signs of ending even as it entered the fourth day.

Ganesh Thapa Magar of Charikot, Dolakha, who has worked as a taxi driver since the last 11 years says the general strike has cost him dearly as it has robbed him of his income from which he used to provide for his family, his children’s education and room rent.

“No matter I can go without food for one or two days. But what about the children? How do you feed them? Market price has soared within the last three days,” said Magar.

Another taxi driver Padam Thapa Magar from Majuwa-8, Ramechhap, who is currently living in Naya Baneshwar, expressed his desperation to meet his family expenses during the current general strike.

“A time will come when people like me will die of hunger if the general strike becomes prolonged. Nobody trusts us loans. The entire family will die of hunger,”

Psalm 23- a different perspective

Yesterday, i had the honor to be sharing on the pulpit and for the past week of preparations, I could not even sleep in the late nights... even the very last night before the day I have to preached.

God showed me Psalm 23 in a very different angle that I broke it down to 3 parts.

¹THE LORD is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.

²He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters.

³He refreshes and restores my life (my self); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him--not for my earning it, but] for His name's sake.

Verse 1-3 shows me the life of a child where the child simply trusting his father. Not the knowing of knowledge but its part of the package of the relationship. If the child is standing at the side of the swimming pool and dad is telling the child to jump and very natural the child knows that dad will catch him, he leaped into the arms of his dad. That's like a child-like faith.

When we first know God, our prayers are simple and seem to be answered very quickly too... then came verse 4 first line

⁴Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death,

The true life test ... the reality of life challenges slips into life. At the garden of gethsemane, Jesus faced the ultimate challenge also his mission, He prayed 3 times to the Father to have it remove...

v39 "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."

v42 He went away a second time and prayed, "My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done."

v44 So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.

It is totally fine and cool to express your feelings when you face challenges. Just like Jesus did but He know and know the will of the Father's is the best plan for Him. And i believe because He knew Ps23:4b-6

I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me.

⁵You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my [brimming] cup runs over.

⁶Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place.

There's Victory in every trials because of the promises of God.

Remember the road to be crucified, Jesus was carrying His cross and fell. Then the guard ordered, someone among the crowd to help Jesus to carry the cross.

God reminds us that it is alright to fall during the process of carrying our cross - trials. God will send someone to come alongside with us to help us to carry our cross.

When Jesus was crucified on the cross, he cried out

"My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" Matt 27:46

There was total silent from Heaven. There are times where God can be silent because He is stretching us.

³Moreover [let us also be full of joy now!] let us exult and triumph in our troubles and rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that pressure and affliction and hardship produce patient and unswerving endurance.

⁴And endurance (fortitude) develops maturity of character (approved faith and ^{d]" style="line-height: 0.5em; ">[d]}tried integrity). And character [of this sort] produces [the habit of]joyful and confident hope of eternal salvation.

⁵Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God's love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us.

Just like a bow and arrow. God wants us to reach our destiny - bull's eye. In order to let the arrow hit the bull's eye at a distant, we need to pull the arrow back and tighten the rubber. There is a need to stretch. Test and trials in life stretches us. God has already prepared the table of feast waiting for us to arrive after crossing through each valley of darkness.

"Because you got a double dose of trouble

and more than your share of contempt,

Your inheritance in the land will be doubled

and your joy go on forever."

Isa61:7 (Msg)

Now for each valley of darkness i'm about to walk through, I know there will be a double inheritance and joy that go on forever...

Tell your double dose of trouble, " come and I look forward to inherit my double dose of blessings and there is such great joy overflowing within me that I will and able to face the valley of darkness.

A busy trip back home...

I came back to n.p on 15th Sept. Sometimes its so scary to know how time flies off so quickly....

Loong n i 1st went back to C.M n stayed at gateway for 6days.... it was a good relaxing time for me as i go shopping... help the girls at gateway to dress up to go to an international church. This church started not too long back... started by a couple who graduated from Rhema. Good to be hearing those rhema words again... kind of miss my good old study years in Rhema...

Met up with joy joy there too and had a long long talk... went to my favorite Rib rest. - Dutch.

Took a bus to go down to Sukothai.... wasn't a good trip for me.... car-sick.... each time i return.. i will get motion sickness..... was't a long trip unlike n.p but i get mild car-sick...

Spent about 4 days there... big bro was sick and had to go for operation and didnt get to see mom on the day we left... during my stay there.... i was helping aunty to look after her provision shop... really a big shop.... and of course never fail... mosquito bites....

Then we took bus to Bkk to meet 2nd bro. He took us out to an island.... very very nice and beautiful.... (shall post the photos another time... )

Then back to the lion city - Singapore...

Had a really good time together with the team to meet up with Danny & Julie to trash matters out.... all of us didn't want to head back to np due to work.. but we all were refreshed by the retreat... really good to take small breaks with Jesus and then write on the journal.... Thk God for Rev Norman for making this possible....

During my last wk was just busy shopping for Jars of Clay.... kind of stress out with the thought of opening shop by this Thur (24th Sept) & 25th is a holiday till 29th... wonder how it will turn out... many things not completed but i know we can still serve the food on the tables of our customers... still disappointed with how work is progressing.. but just have to trust the Lord...

On the other hand... i'm really excited.... the very 1st cafe is going to birth from the vision i had when i was 17... been a gd 8years.... God this is your ministry... u have to help us...

Remembering my favorite verse in Sunsch

As I was reading my devotional book, i came across my favorite verse during my sunsch times...

"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man..." 1 Cor 10:13

Why is this my favorite verse???

I can't actually remember why.... but i know it was a period of time where i faces lots of trials and temptations in my life... its all about the choice i have to make if i say i'm following Christ.

What I learnt from this recent devotion...?

Oswald chambers " temptation is not sin" quoted by his book, "My Utmost for His Highest"

He continues saying that Temptation is very much and puzzle of our life as long as we are men. Temptation is common to man, the bible clearly wrote. But not all temptations are faced by every men. Rather the nature of one's man attracts to the very nature of that temptation.

For e.g David loves to eat ice-cream. One day, mom told David not to have ice-cream because David's throat is not well. Knowing that ice-cream does not do anything good to his throat yet seeing the ice-cream tub in the freezer, David is tempted to disobey his mom and tempted to eat the ice-cream.

Lucy, is not a ice-cream lover. So even when she is not having any sore throat, opening the freezer door and there sits a huge ice-cream tub, Lucy does not feel any excitement at all.

David loves ice-cream while Lucy does not. Who will be 1st to be drooling over ice-cream?

Everyone knows the answer.

The same to the nature of man. Temptation fits the nature of the one tempted and reveals the possibilities of the nature. Every man has the setting of his own temptation.

I like to look at temptation at a different angle. Temptation is a step before sin. If i chose to be tempted, I have sinned. If I chose to not to be tempted with Christ help, I not only repelled away from sin, I taken a step to be closer with Christ.

"Temptation is not something we may escape, it is essential to the full orbed life of a man. Beware lest you think you are tempted as no one else is tempted; what you go through is the common inheritance of the race, not something no one eer went through before. God does not save us from temptations; He succors us in the mist of them." - Oswald Chambers (My Utmost for His Highest)

Forgiven Much...

When Shawn - american idol contestant, came to present his songs here, the song that touches my heart most is "Forgiven Much"

As i hear the lyrics of the songs i just couldn't stop tearing. As i read the passage in

luke 7:47

" Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven- for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little."

A journey worth remembering...

I'm so happy the day when i saw Adeline together with all the special things she brought up... such a blessing for us here...

We had little time together as we were in separate painting teams and she was in the villages for 2 different weeks. Only the last week she was in the capital.

Though through the short time with her... nice to recall and joke about how we started exploring into missions in the past.... and now all of us are in different areas but still serving the same Father.

Looking back....

I knew ade when i first came into children's ministry in 1999. She was like a big jie jie to me at that time... we went on trips to chiangmai... we then serve together in the missions committee... we too went for night classes at Ywam and even some mission conferences...

Though we have all gone to different areas that Father has placed us in... its beautiful to look back at the path He has allow us to cross paths and again cross paths here...

We had a great time together with the other team mates...
